SEO fixes delivered as GitHub pull requests

For sites built with code instead of a CMS, SEODevil finds where the problem lives in your repository and opens a pull request with the fix, ready for your normal review and deploy.

How it works

  1. 1

    Connect a repository

Use a fine-grained GitHub token limited to the repository, with read and write access to contents and pull requests.

  2. 2

    SEODevil locates the code

It searches your source files for the current title or description, or for the image file flagged in the audit, including images brought in with imports like import hero from './hero.png'.

  3. 3

    Review the change

AI writes the new value. You see the exact lines that will change and can edit the text before anything is pushed.

  4. 4

    Merge as usual

SEODevil opens a pull request on a new seodevil/ branch, with one commit per file. When it's merged, the fix shows up in your fix history and Search Console impact.

Works with how you already ship

Nothing is pushed to your main branch. Every fix goes through a pull request, so your CI, previews and code review all run as normal.

It handles plain HTML and JSX alike: <title> tags, meta descriptions, <img> and Next.js <Image> components, and Markdown images.

Good to know

  • SEODevil needs something to find. A title or description that is missing entirely can't be located in the code, so for those you'll get fix code to add yourself.
  • Titles and descriptions built from variables at runtime may not match a line in the source. SEODevil only proposes a change when it finds a confident match.
  • SEODevil scans up to 800 source files per repository.

Frequently asked questions

Which GitHub permissions does SEODevil need?

A fine-grained personal access token for the repository with Contents and Pull requests set to read and write. You can limit it to a single repository and revoke it at any time.

Will SEODevil ever push to my main branch?

No. Each fix is committed to its own new branch and opened as a pull request. Merging is always your decision.

Does it work with Next.js, Astro or plain HTML?

It works on the source files themselves, so any framework where titles, descriptions and images appear in HTML, JSX or Markdown is supported.
